What Day Is It Today? follows the life of a homeless inventor who holds absurd lectures in his makeshift backyard, who is constantly perfecting his invention, who is paranoid of the solar system and is waiting for the apocalypse to happen.
What Day Is It Today? is a spoken word experiment which explores the use of language and meaning by deconstructing a premise to further expand an experience within a story told through the use of various mediums which includes music, sound sculpture and visuals.

Swedish with English subtitle
The internationally renowned auteur of Songs From The Second Floor (2000) and You, The Living (2007) also brought us En kärlekshistoria, a phenomenally successful film when it was shown in Sweden almost 4 decades ago.
En kärlekshistoria is ostensibly a simple story about an adolescent boy and girl discovering the risk and excitement of first love. Andersson, fueled by the youthful energy and freshness of the French New Wave, located this film firmly within the social context of contemporary Sweden. The ‘love story’ is a soaring vision of purity, set against a darker satire of the Swedish bourgeousie – their petty squabbles and materialistic concerns – pointing in the direction that Andersson would later travel.

SRT’s The Young Co. proudly presents their graduation show – Arthur Miller’s The Crucible – is a powerful and timeless depiction of how intolerance and hysteria can tear a community apart. It was made into a film starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Winona Ryder.
A group of teenage girls gather in a forest one evening and are involved in an innocent conjuring of love potions in order to catch the eye of the young men that they desire. Guilt at being caught in the act drives them into a frenzy of accusations and they are forced to tell lies that Satan has invaded them.
In a moment of jealousy, Abigail, one of the girls involved, claims Elizabeth (the innocent wife of a man she is infatuated with and with whom she had an affair) is a witch. As the other girls pick up on the trick and start naming anyone they resented, lies and rumours spread among the deeply religious community and anyone opposed to the trials is denounced as a witch. Through their hysteria and false accusations, 19 innocent townsfolk are put to death as witches.
A tale of witch hunts, religious persecution, sexual revenge and social hysteria centered on the true story of the horrifying witch-hunts that occurred in Salem, Massachusetts at the end of the 17th century, this gripping play is a must-see for students and anyone who loves suspense and drama.

Performed in Korean.
Not suitable for patrons aged 12 and below
“Uhuhboo” in Korean is an ironic expression which may mean “the fisherman” or “father of the fish”. Since its debut in 1994, Uhuhboo Project has made a name for itself as one of the most eccentric bands in the Korean contemporary music scene.
Uhuhboo Project’s music is an unconventional mix of sounds and instrumentation (traditional and otherwise). The band’s songs are highly theatrical and the performances are collaborations with artists from other fields such as dance, film, theatre and fine art. The lyrics are difficult to decipher. They can be understood as avant-garde poems, with, at times, almost eerie metaphors about harsh realities.
Through three regular albums and music in many films (including Sympathy For Mr Vengeance), the band has become known for presenting socio-political messages in satirical as well as poetic ways. The band’s songs have also been used in German modern dance choreographer Pina Bausch’s works Für die Kinder von gestern, heute und morgen (2002), Nefés (2003) and Rough Cut (2005).
In this concert, paper towels will be used to create a minimalist stage design in the midst of modified waltz, tango, polka and trot music as actors perform short plays in a sporadic manner during the band’s performance.

Since then, Aloysius has photographed musicians such as Coldplay, Linkin Park, The Police, Black Sabbath, Elton John and Jason Mraz in concert. He has also been appointed official photographer for music festivals such as WOMAD, Mosaic, Baybeats and SINGfest.

The world of spirits is a world of flux.
Five post-war personas in a state of limbo gather at a deserted place. Searching for a way home, they stop only to hear each other’s poignant tales of war and loss, endeavors and bygone dreams.
Soon, haunting memories of guilt and pain are unveiled and they realize they are tangled to each other in their choices and consequences.
With their relationship to each other now clear, they unleash a series of questions about the sense and senselessness of war.
‘To die for the motherland is to die in glory!’ against ‘Did we win the battle? Was there any real deed of bravery?’
The formless spirits in their unrelenting cyclical acts of remembering became themselves spirits of remembrance.
They start drifting again.
_________________________________________________________________
The Spirits Play, one of Singapore’s most important theatre classics, was
written by the late Mr Kuo Pao Kun in 1998. It evokes memories from the 20th century Pacific War which swept through Asia and Europe and investigates the guilt, pain and complexities which the war incited. A play that is valued across generations for its universally embracing theme for Asia and the world, and its powerfully delivered message – the triumph of human oral histories over silenced war atrocities.
This multi-lingual production unites creative energies across three generations: highly cherished dramatist-playwright Kuo Pao Kun, esteemed director Kok Heng Leun, artistic director of Drama Box and TTRP graduate artists. It is our belief that the living and the deceased are only separated physically but never mentally, spiritually and creatively.

The Goat Head was an artist. His most famous work, a magnificent blueprint of a utopian city.
One day as the Goat Head and his expectant wife appear to address the public, a gunshot is fired and the dictator is assassinated. Dissidents stage a coup and gain control of the country. A massive hunt is launched for all goats. All goats are wanted. All goats are hunted. After a time of purging, the dust finally settles.
Several years later two prisoners, Munsee and Boo wait behind bars.
Then word comes. The most wanted Goat has surfaced. The Goat from the expectant belly. The feared successor. The hunt resumes. The Goat could be anyone, teacher, astronaut, deep-sea diver, doctor. The Goat could be anything, fat, man, hairy, woman.
When a blueprint resembling the Goat Head’s Utopia is found in their prison cell, all eyes turn. Could one of them be the Goat? Munsee, a university student imprisoned for participating in a demonstration or Boo a construction worker for assaulting his supervisor. The interrogation begins.

Get ready for a rowdy good time with BOOM BAH!, a Picture Book to Performance project to develop and promote reading, multi-media and performance literacy in very young children from 1 to 3 years plus families.
Written by Phil Cummings and illustrated by Nina Rycroft, BOOM BAH! is a picture book that comes to life on stage. Movement, music, and creative play are the highlights in this show that is built around themes that can easily engage the very young.
In this show, the children will spend a day with a cat, goat and pig and friends as they create music from the simplest of instruments found in the home, moving from the kitchen to the backyard and ending up with a bustling band.
This wonderful ‘first’ performance experience will lead your children to a lifelong love of the arts.

Reaching out to an audience 1,500 strong during this year’s Singapore Arts festival, The Crab Flower Club had both the media and the public raving about its stellar cast, powerful script, inspiring music and lavish set and costumes.
The Crab Flower Club is set in a noble household in the Qing dynasty, centred around 5 daughters who gather on the eve of their father’s 60th birthday. They meet to prepare a delicately complex feast of crabs for their patriarch, and more importantly, to set up an all-women poetry club. As each protagonist conjures up her own recipe, she also lays bare her intelligence, talent and desire on the culinary table.
Acclaimed for his design and literary flair, playwright and director Goh Boon Teck’s latest work is based on poems in Cao Xue Qin’s masterpiece, Dream of the Red Chamber. The Crab Flower Club is a calligraphic foray into the sensitive and simmering world of the female protagonists, accompanied by Franz Liszt’s Symphonic Poem – Les Preludes, with sound design by Darren Ng. Acclaimed Malaysian actress Nell Ng will be re-instating her role in the show, while stellar actresses Emma Yong, Karen Tan and Yeo Yann Yann will join this re-staging of The Crab Flower Club. We are also pleased to introduce promising new-comer Ang Ru-Chen.
Once again, The Crab Flower Club promises to caress your innermost emotions and sensitivity. Running for a limited season, The Crab Flower Club will be served from 20th August till 29th August. Tickets are available at SISTIC from 18th June.
